Merlinda Bobis is an award-winning writer and academician who moved from The Philippines and now is an Australian citizen. She is works at the University of Wollongong and is very passionate about teaching creative writing to her students.

Merlinda Bobis grew up in the foothills of an active volcano – Mt. Mayon in The Philippines. When she came to Wollongong to pursue her Doctorate at the University of Wollongong, she could immediately connect with the town and since then decided to call it home.

Merlinda had received an Australian study grant to pursue her Doctorate at the University of Wollongong. Australia hosts thousands of International students every year, who come to pursue higher studies in the many Universities across the country.
